Worthy Endeavors

Worcester Prep students at every grade level participate in learning and service activities on and off campus.
TAKING FLIGHT
Kindergarten students learn about nature and lifecycles by raising monarch butterflies from eggs to caterpillars to butterflies in their classroom, then releasing them to migrate, waving good-bye as the colorful insects take flight.
THE MUSICAL MALLARDS
An after-school singing and dancing troupe for boys and girls in grades 3-6,the Musical Mallards perform around the community and in local parades in Berlin and Ocean City.

WORTH THE CARBS
An annual bread sale teaches third graders about science, social studies, mathematics, and philanthropy. The month-long project operates like a small business, with students filling every role from chef to cashier. Second graders research ingredients, bake the bread, create advertising posters, and sell their tasty work in their “classroom café” to other students and facul ty. The young entrepreneurs then donate the proceeds to Atlantic General Hospital.
WORTH THE TRIP
For more than 40 years, Worcester Prep eighth graders have learned and grown through an annual overnight trip to Echo Hill Outdoor School. Located on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, Echo Hill is an outdoor learning lab – 300 acres of forests, meadow, marshland, and beaches. Students hone their outdoor skills, learn about the environment and wildlife, participate in team building exercises, and return to civilization with enhanced confidence and self-esteem.
FULL STEAM AHEAD
Ninth graders put their STEAM skills (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) to the test by designing, building, and programming robotic displays ranging from interactive barnyard scenes to knights in castles.

WORTH TUNING IN
Students host their own talk shows on Worcester Prep’s 24/7 radio station, “Audiograted,” which is broadcast worldwide. The station is run by students who manage the programming and live broadcasts before and after school.

MAKING A CASE
The Mock Trial team includes Worcester Prep students who compete against other Maryland high schools in arguing legal cases. Students learn about laws and the judiciary system and enhance their critical thinking and presentation skills. The Mock Trial team is sponsored by the Maryland State Bar Association and Maryland Youth & the Law.

“Worcester Prep provided me with an academic foundation that prepared me to perform at the collegiate level and provided continuous opportunities for personal growth and development. From the lacrosse field to oratory competitions, class trips to robotics camps and musical performances, the memories and the learning were truly unforgettable. Above all, Worcester provided me with a family of best friends that will last a lifetime, and for that I am most grateful.”
