Berlin, MD –Worcester Preparatory School’s (WPS) Chess Club Tournament winners were recognized in front of their classmates and awarded with a trophy.
Upper School teachers, Paul Cyryca and Mike Marriotti, and Head of Lower School, Dr. Sara Timmons, officiated the WPS Chess Club Tournament. Upper School Students, Aleksey Klimins and Edward Martikyan, assisted the 37 chess players throughout the chess playing brackets. Chess Club met twice a month since the start of the 2023-2024 school year and had their final Chess Tournament on Thursday, March 7.
During lunch the next day, Dr. Timmons presented the winners, Wesley DeVito (’33) of the Grades 2-4 bracket and Artemiy Klimins (’29) of the Grades 5-8 bracket with their trophies. The runners-up in the Grades 3-4 were Carter Harrison (’32), and Grade 5-6 was Allen Martikyan (’31).
